A SENSORY CHRISTMAS EXPERIENCE

IMMERSE

An empty tenancy at Christmas is a missed opportunity. Westfield Newmarket needed it transformed into something that would stop shoppers in their tracks — an experience that tapped into the nostalgia of Christmas while driving genuine engagement.

DELIVER

An oversized hand-crank mechanism brought the space to life. As visitors turned the crank, a central sculptural installation — our take on a polyphon music box — rotated, refracting light onto mirrored surfaces throughout the room. A commissioned soundscape layered Tchaikovsky's Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, responding directly to the crank. Clever play of light balanced simplicity with theatrical drama.

PROVOKE

The obvious answer was a Christmas grotto. We went deeper — into the feeling of Christmas. The nostalgia, the beauty, the sense of wonder. We landed on the music box — an object steeped in memory and emotion — and asked: what if you could step inside one?

PROVE

he installation ran for two months — well beyond its original window. The client described it as exactly the engagement the centre needed, bringing the festive spirit alive and giving shoppers a reason to visit and stay. The infrastructure was purposefully designed for longevity, with the core assets built to be reimagined in future activations.
