TENANCY FIT OUT

St Lukes has a problem familiar to many centres — empty tenancies eroding the customer experience. With families as a key demographic, we saw an opportunity to turn a liability into a destination. This particular tenancy had already proven its value through two temporary activations we'd delivered — a Christmas space and a kids play area — both of which shoppers didn't want to let go of. It was time to make it permanent.
DELIVER
Custom-designed trees anchor the space — a towering 4.8m hero tree with a cosy reading nook, freestanding canopy trees with built-in seating and storage. Sensory walls, a block pit pond, banana-print details, and modular furnishings on castors allow the room to flex between Monty Mornings, school holiday activities, and everyday free play. The palette — natural ply, soft greens, and neutrals feels welcoming and warm while sitting comfortably alongside Monty’s blue and Westfield Red.
PROVOKE
Most kids play spaces in shopping centres are an afterthought — a fenced-off corner with some foam mats. We knew Monty's Jungle deserved something more. A considered interior fit-out with the warmth and quality of an early childhood space. And because it's still a tenancy, everything was engineered to relocate if needed — protecting the centre's investment without compromising on finish.
PROVE
Two years on and Monty's Jungle is still humming. Families use it daily, Monty Mornings regularly draw crowds, and what started as a temporary Christmas activation has become one of the centre's most valued permanent assets — turning a problem tenancy into a reason to visit.
